Five Spice Chinese BBQ Sauce

Asian-style BBQ makes a great choice for a wide range of events, including garden parties and wedding receptions. People just love the taste of food cooked over charcoal, and the use of Chinese spices really add an extra dimension that will surprise and delight.
If you’re looking to pep up your next BBQ at home, why not try Chef Kwoklyn‘s Five Spice Chinese BBQ Sauce recipe. It really goes well with almost anything you can think of on the BBQ – pork steaks, bangers or even brushed over grilled sweetcorn.
This sauce recipe takes just a couple of minutes to prepare and cook, so you won’t have to miss any of the party to enjoy some fantastic Asian flavours!
2 tsp. light soy sauce
1 tsp five spice powder
125ml tomato ketchup
4 tbsp brown table sauce,
100g white or brown sugar
1½ tsp cornflour slaked with 2 tbsp water
Place all of the sauce ingredients except the cornflour into a wok. Heat on medium and stir until sauce starts to boil. Lower heat and simmer for a few minutes.
Add corn flour mixture to the sauce and stir until thickens, remove from heat.
